About Their Events
In April 2025, the team hosted a powerful series of free community events aimed at addressing maternal and infant health disparities across South Carolina. On April 12th, at the SC Department of Archives and History in Columbia, they presented “Bridging the Gap: A Community Response to Maternal and Infant Health,” which featured a documentary screening (10 am – 12 pm) followed by a Community Baby Shower (12 pm – 2 pm) offering resources, giveaways, and support for expectant and new mothers. At the same time, a separate Community Baby Shower was held at 8301 Parklane Road in Columbia, also from 12 pm – 2 pm, providing lunch, entertainment, and valuable information to families in need. The month will conclude with a Lowcountry event on April 26th at Beaufort Memorial Medical and Administrative Center, where another “Bridging the Gap” session was held from 10 am – 12 pm, featuring a Lunch and Learn focused on education and advocacy to help reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. These events demonstrated the team’s ongoing commitment to equity, empowerment, and improved health outcomes for mothers and babies across the state.
