On October 3, 2024, the South Carolina Association of Community Action Partnerships (SCACAP) hosted a powerful luncheon at the Embassy Suites in Columbia to address the pressing issue of infant and maternal mortality. The event highlighted SCACAP’s nationally recognized Diaper Dash program, which operates as part of their Head Start initiative to support families with children from birth to age three by promoting school readiness and strengthening family relationships. SCACAP also introduced its Diaper Distribution Demonstration and Research Pilot (DDDRP), a statewide effort funded by the Office of Community Services (OCS). This program not only provides families with diapers but also connects them to essential services, ensuring critical support is available even on weekends through a network of community action agencies and childcare centers.

The South Carolina Association of Community Action Partnerships, Inc. (SCACAP) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and supporting programs that promote self-sufficiency and enhance the quality of life for income-eligible children, youth, individuals, and families served within the Community Action and Head Start networks in South Carolina. These collaborative efforts encompass comprehensive early housing, energy assistance, crisis management, employment support, nutrition, youth, senior programs, and other essential community services.
